Apple: iOS 9 has already installed more than 60% of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

According to statistics published by Apple, iOS 9 is already installed on 61% of compatible mobile devices. It happened only a month and a half after the launch of the platform, and for the last two weeks her presence grew by 4%.

At the same time, 30% of all gadgets that use the App store, still work with iOS 8, while 9% remain loyal to iOS 7 or earlier versions of the platform.

iOS 9 was a record for the rate of spread, and in just one week was set at every other iOS device, whereas the previous version of the Apple had taken about six weeks. And Apple said that, a month after the debut of iOS 9, interest in this operating system is still very large.

The penetration rate of iOS far surpasses Android. Currently on Android 5.0 and 5.1 only account for 23,5% of the market of gadgets with “green robot”. And although last month only this version was able to increase its share (+2.5%), the propagation speed of Android pales in comparison to iOS.

The most common version of the OS remains released in 2013 with Android 4.4 KitKat — 38.9% of devices are running on this version.

The adoption rate of Android 5.0 Lollipop is depressing, especially in light of already next version of Android 6.0. Although, with the incredible fragmentation of gadgets with this OS, as well as an incredible market share in unit sales of such devices will, in fact, a lot. However, this does not solve the problem of developers who have in their software to support older versions of Android and not to rush to implement features that are available only in the newest updates.
