Apple buys Shazam

TechCrunch reported that Apple is going to buy the service Shazam.

Shazam is a popular app to recognize tracks playing in movies, on the radio or in cafes, using the device’s microphone. A few years ago, Apple has integrated some functions of the app in Siri.

The company Shazam was founded in 1999 and since then has earned 143,5 million dollars. In 2015 it is estimated at one billion dollars. In this case, Apple will pay much less – about 401 million dollars.

This acquisition will help Apple improve its own music service, integrating the functions of built-in Shazam player. Perhaps a Corporation wants to implement the function of background music recognition. Similar appeared in the smartphone Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.

Representatives of both companies refused to give any comments about the transaction. However, TechCrunch reporters think details will be known next Monday.
