Apple added 3D Flyover maps for 11 U.S. cities and Europe

Apple has expanded Flyover coverage in its mapping service Maps: 11 new cities acquired volumetric shape. Branded mapping service Apple available exclusively to owners of iPhone, iPad and Mac.

The Apple Maps service is characterized by several features: “light” vector graphics, reducing spent traffic, voice navigation, improved utilization in the “offline”, the three-dimensional mode Flyover. Flyover in Apple maps is based on the technology startup C3 Technologies, who is an American Corporation bought three years ago. Visualization systems allow you to automatically create 3D models from aerial imagery taken at an angle of 45 degrees. The result of these efforts is a three – dimensional urban landscapes increase. Is clearly visible the roofs and walls of houses, streets and trees.

Full list of cities for which is covered by Flyover published on the Apple website. Does the company plan to shoot Flyover on the territory of Russia, is still unknown.
