Announced Android Wear 2.0: full keyboard, standalone applications, widgets

In the framework of the conference Google I/O Google revealed a new operating system for smart watch of Android Wear. It has some new opportunities for communication, and support native applications.

As stated by Google, Android Wear 2.0 is a major platform upgrade since launch. One of the most important innovations was the fact that applications can now run directly on the watch. Thanks to this smart watch running Android Wear will become less dependent on a paired smartphone.

For example, an application for monitoring workouts Strava will automatically start recording the session once the user begins to run. It also enables you to perform a variety of functions much faster because it will happen right on the hour, and not streamed from a smartphone. The smart watch will be able to connect to the Internet independently via Wi-Fi or using the cellular module.

Another important innovation platform was the ability to adjust the dials. Like the complications on the Apple Watch users will be able to display different widgets hours. This can be the number of steps, promotions, calendar events and much more.

Watch on Android Wear 2.0 will allow users to reply to messages using the “smart” answer — choices that the system offers automatically based on the specified source of the issue. Besides, if earlier the user could only use voice dialing, in the new version, you can type the text directly on the watch screen (the OS will recognize the text) or use the full keyboard on the device screen.

The first beta version of Android Wear 2.0 will be available to developers starting today.
