According to analysts, Android users are less likely to switch to iPhone

To assess the popularity of a particular model of iPhone analysts use not only the overall sales figures, but indicators such as the number of defectors – the proportion of those who switched to Apple from Android devices. According to the research company Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, in the case of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus this figure is only 10%, whereas for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus it was 26%.

In other words, most buyers of “sevens” — are the owners of “Apple” smartphones of previous generations. But iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus for sale at least not worse than the iPhone 6s, from which we can conclude that their acquisition of refuse, mainly those who want to get their next device a radically new experience. It is obvious that many representatives of this category of users waiting for the iPhone 8, which will be presented this fall.

Analysts cite a few interesting facts about iPhone sales. In particular, the company calculated that the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are sold in roughly equal proportions, accounting for 68% of all sold in the US Apple smartphones. About 15% bought those models previously owned iPhone 6s or 6s Plus, and 41% were owners of the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus. At the same time, sales of the iPhone not the latest generation now is 2014.

It is worth noting that according to Apple, the number of users to abandon Android in favor of iPhone in the beginning of the year, reached its maximum in the quarterly measurement. The same applies to users who upgraded their iPhone model to the latest version.

“If you look at the absolute value of the user who updated the iPhone, it was the biggest among all previous quarters. With regard to the number of defectors [approx. from Android to iOS], it also proved the biggest in the history of the measurement,” said cook.
