Initially Apple Pencil created for the iPad Pro and now is only compatible with 9.7 – and 12.9-inch version of the device. Future iPhone owners will probably be able to use a digital stylus along with the users of “Apple” tablets.
That support Apple Pencil can also appear as the iPhone shows new Apple’s patent application. In the document, the company revealed this week, describes the special design of the holder, allowing not to lose the stylus. The accessory allows you to place branded stylus Apple in different provisions of quality in the time of work, when carrying the gadget.
In the Apple document indicates that the holder “is designed for devices such as a smartphone or tablet”. The company is not limited to the General term “electronic device”, and clearly pointed to the possibility of using Apple Pencil not only with iPad but also with iPhone.
This is not the first patent in which Apple describes the use of a proprietary pen with smartphones. Last year the patent office has published the request of the company, which demonstrates the application interface for smartphones in the style of iMovie, and indicates possible ways to use Apple Pencil to edit your video. The developers have indicated that the pen opens wide possibilities for working with your smartphone: it can be used to create the sketches, to paint portraits in watercolor and prepare technical drawings.
Last year, Apple CEO Tim cook hinted at Apple support the Pencil in the iPhone. “I think Steve would like it very much, he said. – If you’ve ever seen that you can create with a stylus on your iPad or iPhone, you would understand how much he’s great”.
To support Apple Pencil the iPhone 8 should be equipped with special display with low-latency and the ability to read the position of the pen 240 times per second. The device must precisely identify the moments when control is used Apple Pencil or the tip of your finger. These technologies are not implemented in the iPhone 7 or iPad Air 2.
